As it stands right now, the savage driver doesn't support Putvideo(). 
S3's last code drop included support for putvideo(), but it was pretty
intermingled with their video-in support and I never ported it to xorg.
 If you feel motivated, feel free to port the function to xorg.  I'll
happily take patches.  I'd do it myself, but I don't really have the
time and it's not really a commonly requested feature. FWIW, the S3
code also has double buffer support that could be ported over.  I may
get to it at some point, but I can't make any promises.
