[Savage40] Newbie Alert !

Hi - 

Just to introduce my self as "Nick"...

I've been a linux user for a fair few years - I am by no means a kernel 
hacker- but I am fairly clued up about the whole shebang im running two 
Gentoo machines a "Libranet" and a "Xandros" distributions. And Im not too 
shy of gettting my hands dirty.

So why am I here? well I've got a lovely IBM Thinkpad T22 running Xandros 2.0 
(desktop) - I just cant seem so squeeze 3D acelleration out of the thing.

My hardware from lspci 

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc 86C270-294 Savage/IX-MV (rev 13)

lspci -n

reports it as

01:00.0 Class 030: 5333:8c12 (rev 13)

Xfree seems to report as a MobileSavage.


So my question is am I floggging a dead horse or is it possible to get GL 
running on this thing? 

Just looking for hints and tips at the moment -- what combination of 
source-code packages should I use to get this up and running?
