if my guess is right and what you mean is that my (virtual) desktop is
bigger than my screen - no, that's not what I meant.

What I meant is I'm just playing a movie. And the camera in the movie
moves left to right. I thought this was called panning. I.e. motion in
the movie is not some actor walking across the scene, but the whole
scene-background moving.

In _these_ cases, I see what I desribed, i.e. the slicing of the
picture.

But I'm not exactly sure what you meant with crtc. Googling only turned
up definitions like above (and a few more that were as unlikely).
