It is an interesting request. However, s3switch should work with a
console framebuffer, even without X. All it does is VESA BIOS calls.

Some board manufacturers do not follow S3's internal BIOS specification,
and so the TV format request does not always return meaningful
information. It is likely that it actually IS in PAL format, but
s3switch doesn't know how to ask.
