No.  The problem is much simpler.  None of my drivers support DRI.

Because my drivers do not have DRI support.  The web page says that.  
The DRI support is all very recent, and exists only in the X.org 
version.  XFree86 is, for all intents and purposes, dead.  There has 
been a discussion about this in the mailing list; you might scan through 
the archive.  You should be able to install the latest X.org release 
and, with a little bit of futzing, get DRI to work.
