[Savage40] Installed driver on Thinkpad T23

I have installed the latest snapshot of the driver for savage IXC. I was a
bit disappointed that I had to reduce the colordepth down to 16 in order
to turn on 3D acceleration on 1400x1050 (my savage should have 16 MB RAM). 
Any workaround?

glxgears tells me 490 fps, but optically the wheels seem to move much
slower than without 3D accel where I get 144 fps. Why is that?

In any case, I'm still happy that I finally could switch on 3D 
acceleration.
