The excerpt from Xorg.0.log is not conclusive. Execute "glxinfo" and check
if it says that direct rendering is enabled. From what I read, I suppose
that you run at 1280 x 1024 x 16bpp, right? In this case, 24 bpp is
perfectly possible as well, as I do know from my own IBM ThinkPad T23, which
also has 16 MB of video memory. This is just above the necessary 15.8 MB.
