Hi all,

after trying since long time to get DRI work on my S3TwisterK based laptop,
i'm coming close to the goal, particularly by reading this list.

Now i have practically succeeded, but i still don't get the holy 'Direct
rendering = Yes' in glxinfo, and i don't understand what's wrong.

I got the lastest snapshot from freedesktop (20050718), it compiled ok, both
common and savage.

My /var/log/Xorg.0.log reads :

[...]

There seems to be a slight problem when opening the device at first
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error 999)
drmOpenDevice: Open failed

but eventually it succeeds :

drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID pci:0000:01:00.0
drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK)
drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 8
drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports pci:0000:01:00.0

Just to be sure i'm using the right driver :

The only thing i didn't do was to recompile my kernel, which is a default
mandriva 2005LE kernel. When i install the kernel sources from mandriva and
look at the .config file, i can read :

CONFIG_AGP_VIA=m
CONFIG_AGP_EFFICEON=m
CONFIG_DRM=m
CONFIG_DRM_TDFX=m
CONFIG_DRM_R128=m
CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m
CONFIG_DRM_I810=m
CONFIG_DRM_I830=m
CONFIG_DRM_I915=m
CONFIG_DRM_MGA=m
CONFIG_DRM_SIS=m
CONFIG_DRM_VIA=m
CONFIG_DRM_MACH64=m

So i guess it should be ok anyway.

Well, Xorg tells me everything's fine and DRI is enabled and running, and
glxinfo still can't use it...

Any idea anyone ?

Thanks,

Alban
