That works here on a rather elderly T21 running Ubuntu 6.06. It's hardly
speedy, but it is working and stable. The first time I have managed to
get this working, so thanks again for the nudge. I had given up hope
after SUSE consistently locked up despite these options.
Irritatingly, if those lines are missing and dri is loaded, the whole
machine locks up. Is there any way to detect the affected savages and
somehow failsafe, rather than seize up the machine? Not having any real
knowledge beyond that of an end user, I merely pose the question and
wonder off :b
