Most of the DDX work was done by Tim with improvements by Felix and
myself.  Felix did most of the 3D stuff.  It was based on S3's code
drops and the old savage utah-glx 3D driver.  Initially it was all
reverse engineered.  Now that VIA owns S3 and the savages are pretty
old, I don't think VIA cares much about them anymore. It's old
technology; they'd rather push new products (*chromes and whatnot). 
What are you trying to accomplish?  If you need help with anything in
particular email me off list and I can help clarify bitfields or BCI
packets, etc.
