I saw a television commercial over the weekend for a new allergy-related nasal spray called Veramyst. I was struck by one of the disclaimers that flashed at the bottom of the screen:

The way Veramyst works is not entirely understood.

I love that. It's completely typical of the pharmaceutical trade today. "We don't know what this does, but please buy it and shove it up your nose. Maybe we'll figure it out later."

Let's hope that it doesn't work by killing the brain cells that trigger immune responses.
