War Progressing Slowly
President Bush has placed this nation on a very dangerous path. He has put his balls (and ours) on the line. Let us hope he is right.

If the Iraqis actually launch chemical or biological weapons against our forces, then the Bush Administration will have been vindicated: it will prove that they were right, and the rest of the United Nations was wrong. If that happens, I'm guessing the rest of the security council will choose to fall in line with us and vanquish Iraq.

But if the war proceeds to something approaching completion without the use of "WMDs" by the Iraqis, this nation will be a paraiah -- a laughingstock -- a demon. It will show that Bush fought this war for no better reason than to avenge his daddy. It will also guarantee that George W. will follow his daddy's footsteps in the One-Term President's Hall Of Shame.

I still don't see any way for this to all come out to the good.

Maybe a one term president is all we can hope for. It's at least one small positive.

I've had mostly the same thoughts and opinions about the Iraq situation...follow up for dad...etc... I've been mainly against the war simply because...what's in it for us? Why is it our job? (and so on...) BUT! Have you heard about (and what do you think about) the supposed 8 million Iraqi people executed by their own government (ie. Saddam & friends)? I'm not sure I know what to think about that...also...it seems as though that in particular is (apparently) of little or no interest to our government (the guys shouting all about what's right and wrong)! Now they have fairly...um...technology-challenged people trying to sort out (crack the security of) the computer systems left behind...they finally got a CD drive last week (!)...nobody wants to help them get at that data/information...they say. I'd do it (I'm been reverse engineering for years) but not to get shot at and only for A LOT of money...besides...they don't like Americans there...why should I (or anyone else that can) even offer? Strange situation...what do you think? -Frank

Unfortunately, much of the near-genocide that Saddam committed in Iraq happened pre-1990, when America was still pumping money into Iraq and Saddam was still our "friend".

This country has a lot to be embarrassed about.
